Sport Rules and Guidelines
General Rules:
All players must participate in the Spiritual and Memorization Exam Competition
in order to be in any of the sports.
All players must complete the “Sport Ministry Accountability” form to keep track
of their participation and to show how the Spiritual and Memorization are
important.
Age groups are determined based on the grade completed as of June 2025.
Location: In-person competition day will be held on Sunday August 2, 2025 at
Archangel Michael Church, Howell, New Jersey.
Soccer:
Each church may register up to two teams in the following age groups:
Lower Elementary (Grade 1-2)
Upper Elementary (Grades 3–5)
Middle School (Grades 6–8)
High School (Grades 9–12)
Teams must consist of 6–11 players.
Teams must be :
Lower Elementary, Upper Elementary, Middle School can be mixed
boys and girls
High school can be either all boys or all girls.
Each game will be 12 minutes with running time. The clock will stop only at the
officials’ discretion.
Substitutions may occur during dead-ball situations and must be reported to
the officials before entering. Unlimited substitutions are allowed.
Equipment:
Players must wear proper footwear:
Indoor games: sneakers or indoor soccer shoes
Outdoor games: cleats
Shin guards are strongly recommended.
Jewelry, including chains, rings, and earrings, is prohibited if deemed unsafe
by officials or coordinators.
Volleyball:
Each church may register up to two teams in:
Middle School (Grades 6–8)
High School (Grades 9–12)
Teams must consist of 4–7 players and be either all boys or all girls.
Basketball:
Each church may register up to two teams in:
Elementary (Grades 3–5), can be mixed boys and girls.
Middle School (Grades 6–8), can be mixed boys and girls
High School (Grades 9–12), either all boys or all girls
Teams must consist of 4–7 players .

Ping Pong:
Each church may participate in the following age groups:
Elementary (Grades 4–5)
Middle School (Grades 6–8)
High School (Grades 9–12)
Matches are played between 2 players at a time, and boys and girls may
compete against each other.
Additional Notes:
These rules are designed to promote fair play, safety, and Christian values
throughout the competition. Please note the following exceptions may be made
depending on registration numbers:
If only one team registers for a specific sport in an age group (e.g., Lower
Elementary Soccer), that sport or division may be canceled.
If a team has a small number of players (e.g., 2 girls and 4 boys for Middle
School Soccer), mixed teams may be allowed at the coordinators’ discretion.
If fewer teams register for a particular sport, game durations may be
extended to provide more play time for participants.
